What to put on a baby shower invitation

  1. Who it is for

    The parents-to-be — and whether it is a surprise for them or a party they are hosting themselves.

  2. Time and place

    A baby shower is often an afternoon. Give the start and the end, and use the "Getting there" note for parking or the door code.

  3. Gifts for the baby

    Link a wishlist with what the nursery still needs. Guests reserve an item, so nobody brings a third baby bath, and several can pool towards the pram.

  4. Boy or girl?

    On the gender reveal design each guest casts a vote on the invitation itself, and everyone can see how the votes stand.

  5. Anything to bring

    A dish for the table, a baby photo of yourself for a game, a book instead of a card — say it once here.

    The baby has arrived and would love to meet you. Drop by on Saturday between 12 and 3 for tea and a cuddle.

Questions hosts ask

  • When is a baby shower usually held?

    Most often four to eight weeks before the due date, while the parents-to-be still feel like a party. Send the invitation three to four weeks ahead.

  • How does the boy-or-girl vote work?

    On the gender reveal design each guest votes on the invitation and sees how the votes stand. Nobody needs an account to vote.

  • Can the wishlist be kept for after the birth?

    Yes. A wishlist is kept apart from the event, so the same list can appear again on a meet-the-baby or first-birthday invitation.

  • Is it free?

    Designing the invitation and sharing it as a link is free, and so are the replies and the wishlist. You pay once, for that one event, only if you want kutsu.me to email the invitations and reminders, to ask guests more than their name, or to use a Premium design.
